How to organize UI/UX reference screenshots
Designers and builders screenshot paywalls, empty states, onboarding, and microcopy constantly. Without structure, inspiration becomes noise. Here is how to keep a usable UI reference library.
Name collections after jobs, not vibes
Prefer collections like Paywalls, Empty states, Onboarding, Settings, or Navigation over vague “Inspiration.” You will reopen them when solving a concrete UI problem.
Annotate the insight, not the app name
A note like “yearly savings under monthly price” is more searchable than the competitor’s name alone. Capture the pattern you want to remember.
Stitch multi-step flows
When a reference spans several screens, combine related screenshots so the flow stays intact. Then file the stitched result once.
