How to annotate screenshots on iPhone

Screenshot annotation is less about drawing arrows and more about preserving intent. A one-line note turns a capture into a reference you can find weeks later.

Annotate in the moment

Ten seconds of context beats rediscovering the same screen three months later with no idea why it mattered.

  1. Take the screenshot.
  2. Share → Open in Screenbase.
  3. Add a note that future-you would search for.
  4. Optionally drop it into a collection or add a tag.

Notes vs visual markup

Drawing on an image can help in a critique. For a personal reference library, searchable notes usually win: they do not destroy the original, and they show up in screenshot search.
